M.I.A. just released two singles on her Soundcloud, "OLA MIA" and "Foreign Friend." As expected these are as politically fueled as we thought, and pretty relevant with refugee crisis in Europe and people crossing the US-Mexico border that go undocumented.
"OLA MIA" seems rather personal and in the same vein as "Borders" (a song about Maya Arulpragasam's own journey through several countries / tale of migration). The sound is familiar and in true M.I.A. form, slaying it as always. "Foreign Friend" covers similar subject matter but is a little less dancey of the two.
We still don't know when her promised album will drop, but maybe this is hinting it will be soon.
