If you aren’t an Amazon Prime member, you may not have noticed Amazon’s serious efforts to become a Netflix of sorts. The company has been adding tons of content to their video service that is included in a prime subscription, and last night, they announced a new monthly video streaming subscription service called Prime Video.
The service is $8.99 a month and will be cheaper than Netflix come may when Netflix’s price increase rolls around. The service will also allow viewers to download videos for offline viewing – a feature Netflix does not offer.
Amazon will also be offering monthly prime memberships, which is perfect for upcoming semesters for students and the holidays.
