Apple is reportedly discussing acquiring Jay-Z‘s streaming service Tidal, according to The Wall Street Journal. No details are known about the acquisition but it could result in a good pay day for Tidal artists such as Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, Kanye West, and Pharrell.
There were rumors in February that Samsung was in talks about acquiring the service as well. Apple runs its own streaming service, Apple Music, and has amassed 13 million subscribers. While it isn’t clear what Apple would do with Jay-Z’s Tidal but the possible acquisition of even more exclusive content is exciting. Tidal’s numbers have reportedly gone up following the release of Beyoncé‘s Lemonade and Kanye West’s The Life of Pablo.
