While Zayn Malik‘s days as One Direction member are long gone, his latest song proves he is still a master of teamwork. “Cruel” is a collaboration with British electro duo Snakeships and features lyrics of moody anguish that are very much in Zayn’s usual style. While true to Zayn’s aesthetic, the song is also similar to Snakeships’ collaboration with Tinashe and Chance the Rapper, “All My Friends” in that it combines a night drive jam with serious feels.
Zayn’s solo album has showcased his ability to power through anxiety issues and also overcome any romantic highs and lows for the sake of doing what he loves.
