Upcoming sci-fi saga Arrival finds Amy Adams trying to convince aliens that decide to visit Earth that humans are not so bad after all. In the Sicario director Denis Villeneuve film, we meet linguist Louise Banks who joins forces with a pair of government agents (Jeremy Renner and Forest Whitaker) when an entire fleet of extraterrestrial vessels land on earth. “There are days that define your story beyond your life,” Adams’ character says in the trailer. “Like the day they arrived.” Because this was just a teaser, we don’t get a real look at the aliens which makes us all the more curious.
The film is based on Ted Chiang’s 1988 short story “Story of Your Life,” and the studio has high hopes for its Oscar potential (!!!!). If you won’t be at the Venice Film Festival or the Toronto International Film Festival, you can catch the film on November 11th when Arrival’s arrival (bu-dum-tis) is set for theaters. You can watch the trailer below.
