Pandora will be launching a new service that will allow users to enable on demand streaming, according to the Wall Street Journal. The service will be available to US users and abroad, and is part of a new deal with major record companies.
If you’ve used the platform before, you’ll know that within the site you can only select a type of music and the site will then create a station for this selection of a specific artist or song. The new service would offer users a subscription option where they can choose exactly what they want to listen to, much like Spotify.
The service will reportedly cost $10 a month, an increase from the current $5 a month ad-free radio service. The payment price is on the same tier as Apple Music, Spotify, and Tidal. The services are each always trying to one-up each other so it will be interesting to see what Pandora does in order to compete. The new service could arrive as early as September.
