In her new music video, singer Lady Gaga abandons meat dresses and comes of age in jean shorts and a tee with a rockstar energy. “Perfect Illusion” is her first single off her upcoming fifth studio album, and the anticipation surrounding the release has been real. Instead of going for flashy and out-there, this time she goes with subtle.
The video was directed by Ruth Hogben and Andrew Gelardin and features Gaga pulling up in a dusty SUV at a desert rager. At this epic party, she’s joined by Mark Ronson, Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker, and BloodPop – aka the producers of the anthem. What’s neck? Well, predictable things for a rockstar: crowd surfing, mic swinging, and ponytail flipping all in front of a crowd who can’t get enough.
The video marks a new aesthetic for Gaga, with her new album Joanne dropping on October 21st. You can see the video for “Perfect Illusion” below.
