With all the pressure mounting from family scandals and pivoting from living in his fathers shadow to an increasing autonomous mindset from the family name: one thing remains clear: Jaden Smith is on a MISSION.
For me, his breakthrough was with his first album: SYRE, which included hits such as “Icon” and “Batman” this album started the beginning of capturing what his TRUE self-identity is: often weird and quirky but always REAL. The sounds in the album match his persona.
His latest venture is now with New Balance, yes you heard right: New Balance. He is working with the sneaker company New Balance to develop a new line of kicks known as the “NB for Jaden Smith Vision Racer” out of purely recycled materials (which was a prereq for him when he inked the deal back in 2017).
Although this year has been a wrecking ball for many artists Im sure that some of the smart ones are tirelessly in the studio stacking up on new music (I mean, what else is there to do) and that the coming years will be a Pax Romana of new music and culture in light of all that has happened in 2020.
